Did Travel Plans Change For This Memorial Day Weekend?
Does the rise of gasoline prices cause American’s to stay home this Memorial Day weekend? According to AAA, the answer is no. Approximately 31.7 million people will take to the roads this holiday weekend, despite the average cost of unleaded fuel at $3.78 per gallon. Last year nearly 32 million people headed out on the US roadways. With gasoline prices up an average 68 cents from a year ago, many American’s thought the number of travelers would have declined more. Many people question why American’s will complain of high fuel cost, but still travel on one of the busiest travel weekends of the year? Many people would think if you wanted to lower gasoline prices; than stay home, drive the demand for gasoline down and maybe the major oil companies will get the clue that fuel prices are just to expensive. How do you think average American’s can help control the cost of domestic fuel prices?
